Kicking off in early September, just days after they play the prestigious Reading & Leeds festivals in the UK, The Smith Street Band will return home for another huge Australian tour. In what will be their most far reaching tour to date, the national run will visit every state and territory, making the trip to North Queensland for the very first time for shows in Cairns and Townsville.
It’s been a huge 12 months for the Melbourne four-piece, touring relentlessly across Australia, the USA, UK and Europe. It all begins at an already sold out hometown 170 Russell show as part of the Poison City Weekender, and finishes up at Wollongong's Yours & Owls Festival Weekender, taking in most of Australia in between.
The band's third full-length Throw Me In The River was released to critical acclaim in late 2014, landing them triple j's album of the week, a top 20 ARIA debut, the band's first appearance in the triple j Hottest 100 and a slot on Australia's premier festival, Splendour in The Grass.
Recent American tour buddies, Phoenix’s anti-folk troupe Andrew Jackson Jihad also join the tour along with Ohio's indie darlings The Sidekicks and Melbourne’s new soul rockers The Sugarcanes.
